Hey , all of you!!!
Sorry for the late reply as I was in Vancouver, Canada on work.
it is nice that you are doing this get-together. I doubt I will be able to make it. I am still trying, but you know Jorhat is not that near (at least physically) from New York, though mentally it is always in my mind. I am really sorry!
I do miss those days, the school, the pranks we played and basically all the innocent yet fun time we had. How much I wish I could go there.
Since you asked for biodata and I can't edit the PDF file, I will just summarize what I have been doing and then you can add it as you wish.
First, I left India for USA in 1989 ( 23 years back)!! I did my PhD from North Carolina State University in 1994. Currently I am working at INTEL as a project manager and senior staff scientist. In between I worked in Osaka, Japan as head of Confederation of Indian industry's Japan office, and then in Siemens in Munich, Germany for couple of years. Now, we live in a city called Poughkeepsie, New York, which is about 90 minutes drive from New York City. My job involves developing cutting edge semiconductor devices and it leads to among other things lot of traveling between Europe and USA and also within the US.
I got married to Gayatree in 1990 and you know Gayatree anyway. We have a daughter named Priya. Priya is 11 years old and is in 7th grade and she speaks fluent Assamese. One of her favorite dishes is "ma's tenga jol". She also plays tennis and plays the piano.
Regarding me I have almost lost all of my hair( I can see Uttam jumping up and down at the news). What is left is some silvery lining. But at least I try to keep fit by playing tennis too.
My most favorable moments at schools should not be disclosed in an email to protect the reputation of Jorhat!. All our teachers already know how terrible we were, but I will never forget one incident involving a very weirds habit of government school students walking out of the class room to spit!!! And I remember one we did overdo this habit and consequently being punished by our Goldsmith "sir"! What i still don't understand, that we needed to ask for permission to go to the bathroom but not for spitting. Now why on earth spitting was such an important part of our daily life? hahah
Anyway..that is all for today. Have fun and drink a beer in my name. Don't let Uttam and Chinmoy drink way too much. They just need an excuse! haha
Thanks for really involving me in this. It means a lot. Please do forward this email to our friends, since it is meant for them as well.
Finally please convey my regards to all our respected teachers who would come to this get-together. Please let them know their contributions were immense in making us good citizens of this world.
Cheers
Chandrasekhar
